OLaser-matter interaction for life and society: fundamental mechanisms and emerging applications
Lasers already permeate our daily lives in many ways and specifically materials processing with lasers is key for numerous applications in science, technology, medicine, and industry. The proposed symposium provides an interdisciplinary forum for presenting and discussing the most recent progress in laser processing of materials, specifically for laser-assisted synthesis, surface functionalization, in-situ diagnostics, and advanced photonic applications.
Scope:
The symposium addresses the field of laser materials processing and laser-matter interaction, including laser- and plasma-based materials synthesis, surface structuring and functionalization, 3D processing, additive manufacturing, process analytics and materials diagnostics with the special emphasis on the micro- and nanoscale. The symposium includes fundamental and applied topics and aims providing a bridge between science and technology.
Laser ablation, surface patterning, micro-/nano- structuring, refractive index engineering, microanalysis, and laser-based synthesis of 2D materials and nanomaterials are used across a wide range of scientific disciplines, covering materials science, engineering, photonics, biophotonics, opto- and micro-electronics for biosensing and environmental monitoring. The recent availability of high-power and ultrashort pulse lasers along with advanced beam management devices has also opened up new routes in multiphotonic materials processing, allowing the fabrication of surface nanostructures; volumetric material modifications inside functional host materials, time-resolved diagnostics, high-rate and high-precision laser machining, optically-induced transfer, or laser direct write methods for true nanoscale materials engineering.
This symposium will provide a platform to establish interdisciplinary international research collaborations between scientist promoting research in the field of materials research, photonics, physics, chemistry, biology and life-science.
The symposium will consist of invited presentations by leading scientists in their respective fields of research and of contributed papers for oral and poster presentations. Special emphasis will be made for presentations by young scientists presenting top achievements. The contributions can include, but are not limited to the topics listed below.
