Shanghai Jiao Tong University

Shanghai Jiao Tong University is one of the famous institutions of higher learning with the longest history and reputation at home and abroad. Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) is pioneering in setting up the discipline of Materials Science and Engineering in China, which has been composed of departments of materials science and engineering since 1997 and among which the heat treatment major was set up in 1952. The discipline of 'Materials Science and Engineering' is one of the first national first-degree subjects and has been consistently ranked top 1‱ in ESI. SMSE firstly set up master's, doctoral and post-doctoral research station, which came 16 in global QS rankings in 2025.
