2024 Spring Meeting
2D materials and surfaces: synthesis, characterization and perspectives
HNanocarbons: from synthesis to advanced applications
Nanocarbons form a material family that possesses outstanding and complementary assets. This explains such nanomaterials are currently actively investigated in many fields like biomedicine, catalysis, advanced composites and lubricants, energy, environment, electronics, sensing and quantum technology.
Scope:
This symposium will provide a state of the art on nanocarbons synthesis (e.g., nanodiamonds, fullerenes, nanotubes, graphene, carbon dots, graphyne) with a special focus on bottom-up strategies that allow a better control of their size, shape, crystalline structure and doping with impurities. The impact of defects like color centers or structural defects on nanocarbon properties will be addressed both experimentally and theoretically. The symposium will also cover the different ex- and in-situ techniques to characterize nanocarbons including the advanced synchrotron-based and in operando techniques. As many applications use nanocarbons dispersed in colloids, colloidal properties and interactions of the different nanocarbons with solvents are important included topics.
The latest advances in ongoing applications of nanocarbons will be presented during this symposium: biolabeling, biosensing and drug delivery, catalysis, photocatalysis and electrocatalysis, degradation of environmental pollutants, energy storage and conversion, composites and lubricants, electronics, sensing and quantum technologies using color centers in nanodiamonds.
