We think the unthinkable and make the impossible possible. The FMF is a central scientific institution of the University of Freiburg. It is located in the center of the tri-national European Metropolitan Region of the Upper Rhine Valley in the border triangle of France, Switzerland and Germany with a high quality of life and international education. As a resource center and pool of ideas for materials research, it has been successfully conducting top-level research across disciplines, institutes and countries since 1989, with a broad spectrum ranging from applied basic research to goal-oriented application and contract research in close cooperation with the industry.
